On Saturday August 16th the Back To School Bash was held at the City of Bowie Gymnasium. Units on-hand include the Special Events Ambulance, Canteen 39, and Support 39.

The Bowie Volunteer Fire Department was sponsored a Bowie family in need of help with Christmas, providing gifts and all the fixings for a Christmas dinner. On the evening of Tuesday December 23rd Department members gathered to accompany Santa on his special delivery.

Members of the Bowie VFD and the Auxiliary participated in the 2008 EPLEX, a Triennial Emergency Plan Exercise to test the response to a Commercial airline incident. The exercise was held at BWI on Saturday May 10, 2008.

On Sunday September 28, 2008 members of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary participated in the Fall Fling in Old Town Bowie from 1000 to 1400.

The members of all three Bowie VFD stations turned out to represent the department at the City of Bowie's annual 4th of July celebration at Allen's Pond. Football was played, food was eaten, fireworks were watched, and a good time was had by all.

On Monday, October 13 2008, President Jon Bigony, Auxiliary members Mary Locker and Jeffery Nigro, and Junior member Mary Locker participated in the Risk Watch program at Chapel Forge Elementary. Apparatus on-hand included the 1964 Brockway, Canteen 19, and the Special Events Ambulance.

On Sunday April 27th Amy and Mary Locker set up and staffed a table with fire safety information, recruiting materials, candles for sale, and a 50/50 raffle at Co. 19 as part of Spring Fling in Old Bowie from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Jeff Nigro and Shirley Meadows also came out to help.

On Saturday September 27th the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department and the Auxiliary were invited to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church for an Emergency Preparedness Day. Canteens 39 and 19 were on display for the public and fire extinguisher training was conducted for the public.

Chief Victor Size passed after battling cancer while serving his second term as Chief of the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department in Queen Anne's County, Maryland. He was a life member and former Chief of the Marlboro VFD in Prince George's County. The Bowie Auxiliary was honored to provide canteen services at his interment.

On Sunday October 12th the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department ran a rural water supply drill on Science Dr. in Company 39's first due. Volunteer and career crews from Cos. 39 and 43 were joined by Forestville (Co. 23), Anne Arundel Co. 7, and several other Anne Arundel County stations.
