RecruitingThe Auxiliary plays a number of roles in the Department, and has a need for members possessing a broad array of skills. If you can teach, drive, or weld we can use you! Men and women ages 16 and older can join the Auxiliary Support Team. Youth aged 16 to 18 can assist with in-house activities with which the Auxiliary is involved. Adults 18 and older can be of administrative and operational support at any of the three Bowie Volunteer Fire Department stations. Members of the Auxiliary are also members of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department with voting privileges and the right to run for most administrative offices, and may participate in the county's Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP). Members may take advantage of a number of training opportunities, such as the Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, and Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) (EMT-B) training. Federal Emergency Management Training is also available online free-of-charge through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
